Access Control System for Radioisotope Controlled Area

Fuji Electric has designed and produced monitoring system for personal exposure dose of workers to enter the radiation controlled area in nuclear plants and nuclear facilities. We offer the Access Control System as control system for external exposure dose of workers to enter the radiation controlled area. Now we introduce the details that we have developed and improved the Electric Personal Dosimeter for exposure dose and have developed the Access Control System under a revision to JIS including IEC standards.

Remote Handling System Based on 3-D Shape Recognition Technique

In a Nuclear facility, the maintenance and repair activities must be done remotely in a radioactive environment. Fuji Electric Systems Corporation has developed a remote handling system based on 3-D recognition technique. The system recognizes the pose and position of the target to manipulate, and visualizes the scene with the target in 3-D, enabling an operator to handle it easily. This paper introduces development of prototype and system improvement.

Conceptual Plan of Radiopharmaceutical Production Process in JMTR

At Oarai Research and Development Center, Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) advances the plan of refurbishing Japan Materials Testing Reactor(JMTR)to start the operation in fiscal 2011.
As part of effective use for JMTR, JAEA is planning to product 99Mo, which is a parent nuclide of 99mTc. 99mTc is most commonly used as a radiopharmaceutical in the field of nuclear medicine.
Currently the supplying of 99Mo is only depend on imports from foreign countries, so JAEA is aiming at domestic production of a part of 99Mo in cooperation with the industrial circles.
In this article, it introduces the conceptual plan of the process, the irradiation facilities, and the commercializing equipments after irradiation for 99Mo production.

Development of Management Systems for Nuclear Power Plant of Hokuriku Electric Power Company

Hokuriku Electric Power Company has been operating the Shika Nuclear Power Station that it constructed in Shika city, Ishikawa prefecture, for over 15 years since bringing Unit 1 of this plant online in July 1993. In addition to electricity generation, maintenance and inspection tasks constitute a big part of operating a large-scale nuclear power plant, and in recent years, problems at power stations in the nuclear power industry have led to several revisions of nationally regulated maintenance and inspection systems. This paper describes the background, objectives, development method, and features of the Maintenance Management System and Maintenance History Management System that make effective use of information technology to promote safer and more efficient maintenance work at large-scale nuclear power plants.

Creep-Fatigue Life Estimation Scheme Based on Stress Redistribution Locus Concept

High temperature components are operated under cyclic thermal transient. In the design of these components, creep-fatigue is the most dominant failure mode. To evaluate creep-fatigue damage, methodology to estimate inelastic strain concentration should be presented in a design standard. This paper presents new technique to estimate inelastic strain behavior based on Stress Redistribution Locus (SRL) method. An applicability of SRL concept is discussed with a help of FEM results for representative components of pressure vessel under various analytical conditions. It is confirmed that SRL does not depend on constitutive equations, thermal load range or plasticity/creep under monotonic loading condition. Including some differences under cyclic loading condition or other, whole results is conservatively represented by proposed design SRL curve.
